Back to Jennifer's Home

April 30, 2000

Dear Journal,

April was a busy month.  On April 4th my class and I went to the Orlando Art Museum to look at an exhibit of old artifacts that were made by people in North America thousands of years ago.  On April 8th, me and my parents went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory play at the Orlando Civic Theater.  The actors were good but the scenery wasn't.

On April 9th, we went to celebrate Great Grandma Rhodes' 97th birthday party.  We went to Grandma Rhodes house for the party.  There were a lot of people there.  I saw Alexis Aten, my cousin, for the first time.

On the 13th I had my talent show rehearsal.

On the 14th, we went to see the play Ramona Quimby, Age 8.  It was at the Civic Theater too.  It was in a small theater and all the actors were children.  Two of them, the father of Ramona, and Ramona's enemy Susan, go to my school, Waterford.  But, I don't know them.  This play was really good.  The actor who played Ramona was the best.

Me on stage

On the 15th, I had my talent show.   My whole family came to see me.  Mom made dinner for everyone before the show and we celebrated Grandpa Rhodes birthday.  Grandma and Grandpa Rhodes, Poppop and Grandma Roberts, Great Grandma Rhodes, Great Grandma Essie, and Mom and Dad all went to the show.  I was act number 5.  My act was a gymnastics routine.  I did it to Baby Likes To Rock It, by the Tractors.  I was a little bit nervous but it was fun.  I may do it next year if I get certain skills, like my back handspring or my front limber or my front tuck.

On the 16th, we went to the circus.  It was at the UCF arena.  We get tickets to it every year from Grandma and Grandpa Rhodes.  The changing clothes magician was there again and he was the best.  The Scorpions, were two guys and a girl that tossed the girl back and forth between them.  I had purple cotton candy and frozen lemonade.  The Shrine clowns were the stupidest.

4 generations

We went to Grandma and Poppop's trailer for the first time on the 22nd and 23rd to celebrate Easter.  The trailer was about the same size I thought it would be.  We went to church in the morning for Easter then we had a cool Easter egg hunt in the park where Grandma and Poppop's trailer is.  Grandma organized the egg hunt.  However many eggs you found was how many prizes you got.  There was a lot of cool prizes like a baseball bat, bubbles, gum, and stuff like that.  I got the most Easter eggs.  I found 8 out of 24 eggs.  After we picked our prizes, whoever got the most, which was me, got the most tokens for Stop and Play.   After playing baseball, we walked to Stop and Play.  After we used up all our tokens, we played miniature golf, which was at Stop and Play.  Where Mom, Dad, Grandma, and Poppop were playing cards, I was playing with my golf prize and when I swung the golf club, a part of it came apart and went flying on the roof and we couldn't get it down.

On the 24th, we went to see the space shuttle launch, but it didn't go off.  I got out of

school early that day.  On the 26th we went to try again but it still didn't go up.  They rescheduled it for May.

On the 28th through the 29th, I went to Jessica's birthday party sleep over.  It was really fun.  We played fib, which is like old maid, and we played girl talk.  It was like a dare game.  Katie had to be blindfolded and try to put lipstick on me.  It was all over my face.  On Kristie, we all had to take hair clips and mess up her hair and she had to wear it for the rest of the game.  Or if you landed on one that said girl talk, you had to pick cards from each corner, read what they said, and give them to the girl that is most like what the card said.  Talks a lot, born to be famous, cries easily, stuff like that.  I gave cries easily to myself.  I stayed up until 3:30 in the morning and finally me and Jessica went to the couch and shared the couch.  She kept kicking me but we finally went to sleep.  We had two contests the first night.  The contest was whoever could hold a handstand or headstand longest.  Katie won because Jessica wasn't included.  Then we had a bubble blowing contest with gum and Kristie won that one.  The next day we woke up at 8:45.  We all woke up at about the same time.  We had a paddle-ball contest to see who could hit it the longest.  Even though I couldn't do it the longest, I won a prize because I was trying the hardest.  Then we had a bubble blowing contest with bubbles to see who could blow the biggest bubble.  Chelesa won that one with Kristie close behind.  I won a yo-yo for my prize.  Then I got picked up and we went garage saling in the Waterford Lakes annual garage sale.  I got 25 books, a babydoll carrier, a basketball to practice dribbling, and a bouncy ball.

Even though April was a busy month, overall it was a great month.
